Lovable calls itself an AI software engineer. People chat with it to build websites and web apps, and it says no technical knowledge is needed. Users own their projects, code and AI output1.

Best for: Prototyping an internal tool quickly from a chat, before deciding whether and where to build it properly.

Not the right fit for: Tools that need audit logs, publishing controls or sharing controls without an Enterprise contract.

What Lovable does

Lovable builds by message. In its own examples, making a button grey costs half a credit and adding sign-up and login about 1.2 credits; Plan Mode costs one credit per message1. Plans are priced by credits rather than seats, all plans allow unlimited workspace members, and owners can set monthly credit limits per member.

For internal use, the relevant controls depend on the plan. Workspace-private projects come with every plan; publishing to the whole workspace, single sign-on and role-based access come with Business; and audit logs, publishing controls and sharing controls come with Enterprise2. A basic security scan runs automatically each time a project is published, and integrations with SAML and OIDC providers such as Okta, Azure AD and Google are offered3.

Published evidence

No manufacturing case studies are published.

We found no named, quantified internal-tool case on the pages we read.

Strengths and limits

Strengths

  • A chat produces a working web app, and Lovable says no technical knowledge is needed.
  • Users own the generated code and can take it elsewhere.
  • A basic security scan runs automatically every time a project is published.
  • Data on Business and Enterprise plans is excluded from model training by default.

Limits

  • Audit logs, publishing controls and sharing controls are Enterprise features.
  • Single sign-on and role-based access start on the Business plan.
  • Credits per message vary with task complexity, which makes monthly cost harder to forecast.

Choose another option if: The tool will touch production data used by many staff and needs governance from the first day (Retool or Superblocks), or the aim is a company system rather than one app (OpenLazarus).

Pricing

Published: Free (5 daily build credits, up to 30 a month); Pro from $25 a month for 100 credits; Business from $50 a month for 100 credits; two months free on annual billing; Enterprise custom.

Questions to ask Lovable

  • Which plan do we need to publish a tool only to our own staff?
  • How many credits would a typical month of changes to one internal tool use?
  • Where will the app's data live, and who maintains the database?
  • If we move the code to another platform, what has to be rebuilt?
