Softr for internal tools: no-code apps on its own databases
The most accessible builder in this guide for people who do not write code, with a published price ladder. Its user, record and workflow caps decide which plan a company really needs.

Softr is built for operations teams rather than developers. It assembles business apps, databases, workflows, forms and AI agents in one workspace, and its pricing page says more than a million businesses use it1.
Best for: Operations teams without developers that need a client portal, an internal tool or a simple CRM on their own data.
Not the right fit for: Companies that need single sign-on or audit logs without an Enterprise contract, or that hold millions of records.
What Softr does
Softr's AI app builder creates business apps from a description, and its built-in AI agents run on the data inside them. Data lives in Softr Databases, with 38 or more integrations on every plan and custom code and API connectors from the Pro plan. An API and an MCP server let outside AI agents build internal tools in Softr1.
The plans are defined by three counts. Builders are the people who edit apps; app users are the people who sign in, split into team users (who share the builders' business email domain) and client users; and workflow actions are counted each month. Builders can be added as app users without counting toward the limit.

Strengths and limits
Strengths
- Built for people who do not write code: apps, databases and workflows are assembled visually or with AI.
- Granular permissions and visibility rules arrive on the Pro plan, at a published price.
- Builders can be added as app users without counting toward user limits.
Limits
- Every plan caps app users, database records and workflow actions; Pro allows 10 team users and 50 client users.
- Single sign-on, SCIM and audit logs are Enterprise features.
- AI credits are small on paid plans (10 to 100 a month).
Choose another option if: Your data lives in a production database that developers already manage (Retool), or the goal is to consolidate many SaaS tools into one system (OpenLazarus).
Pricing
Published: Free; Basic $19, Pro $99 and Business $329 a month billed yearly ($25, $119 and $395 billed monthly); Enterprise custom. Half price for non-profits and education.
Questions to ask Softr
- How many team and client users will we have in a year, and which plan does that require?
- How many records will our largest table hold, and what happens when we reach the plan limit?
- What does Enterprise cost if we need single sign-on and audit logs?
- Can we export our data and app structure if we move platforms?
